Institute for Health & Ageing

Promoting positive ageing and an age friendly society

Welcome to the Institute for Health and Ageing

IHA Team

The Institute for Health and Ageing is undertaking health research to promote positive ageing and improve the lives of older people and those who care for them. Commencing operation in January 2015, IHA comprises a multidisciplinary team who bring high level skills and a range of different perspectives to questions and problems around ageing.

Early priorities for IHA have included linking in with key partners in the community, government, not-for-profit and private spheres, and also establishing effective partnerships with colleagues within the University and across the research sector who are concerned with making a positive difference in the lives of older people.

IHA’s staffing profile is growing, and a number of new senior academic appointments commencing in December 2015 and early 2016 brought an array of news skills in the areas of physical activity, social epidemiology, social determinants of health and health inequalities, Alzheimer’s and dementia, and the built environment.
