Causal Inference Research Group
The Causal Inference Research Group forms part of the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Healthy, Liveable and Equitable Communities. The group aims to establish whether and to what extent the built and social environments are causally related to health and associated behaviours and risk factors. This aim will be achieved via employment of a number of advanced statistical approaches including use of study designs (multilevel, longitudinal, quasi-experimental, and natural experiments), measurement tools (propensity score matching, instrumental variables, indexes and scales), conceptual frameworks (such as directed acyclic graphs), and statistical techniques (multilevel longitudinal modelling, fixed-effects modelling, sensitivity analysis, structural equation modelling, and generalized additive modelling). These approaches will be applied to existing multilevel longitudinal Australian studies.
