Choice & Control in aged care
Professor Marita McCabe presented on the 6th December at a Sydney conference supported by the Council On The Ageing (COTA) and focused on Preparing for Choice & Control in Residential Aged Care.
The conference explored impending changes to consumer directed care within the context of accommodated care for older Australians. Discussion was focused on the need for residential aged care providers to become more innovative and flexible in their organisation models and methods of service delivery, and to be proactive and agile in anticipating how reforms in this area can be managed with a view to maintaining quality of life and care for consumers.
Professor McCabe blogged on related issues in the lead up to the conference, with a first instalment tackling the issue of CDC in residential aged care: Lessons learnt form the first pilot of choice & control.
